INNOCENCE
I wish I could freeze time.

Although our days can be filled with whining, temper tantrums (more by AA than by JP ... but that's a whole other blog post!), dirty diapers, and spilled milk (literally!), my heart is filled with such gratitude to be a mom. Each day my kids seem to teach me something. Tonight I am reminded of the pure innocence that children have. They know no real evils. JP and I were reading the story of David and Goliath; I tried to explain that Goliath was the "bad" guy. JP responded: "No, mamma, he's not a bad guy, he's happy." I reread the story a few times, trying to explain the good versus evil plot in a few different ways ... but no matter how I phrased things, JP just wouldn't believe me. To him, both David and Goliath were the "good" guys. As we went on to talk some more and read a few more stories, I realized that JP didn't want anyone to be a "bad" guy. In his little toddler mind, the world was all good. Oh how I wish I could think like this each day! If I could only look beyond the evils in the world and have faith like a child. Yes, tonight, I was the one who learned the lesson during storytime.
I wish I could freeze time.

PEARLY WHITES
Daddy took JP to the dentist for the first time today! I asked for a detailed report on this new adventure ... and what I got were a few cute pictures and a little boy who loves to brush (and floss!) his teeth! I guess it was a success. JP hopped right up in the chair and listened closely to the hygienist. They counted his teeth and taught him how to brush correctly. Apparently this will set him up for the next time he really needs to see the dentist!

HOLIDAY WEEKEND
Christmas is coming! We had a great holiday weekend. We picked out our Christmas tree:
we trimmed the tree and put up holiday decorations:
Yesterday we gathered downtown to watch Santa Claus appear on top of the Old City Hall ...
thank goodness the big fire truck with a really big ladder came to save him! (and thank goodness the kids were fine with watching the rescue from the sky way rather than outside in the cold!)

THANKSGIVING
Holidays are becoming more and more fun. As the kids get older, road trips and nights away from normal routine are getting easier. JP and AA were great over the four day weekend holiday. We split our time at my parents and A's parents. JP loved playing with boys for once! He's lucky to have adorable little guys to look up to, like his second cousin S:
JP discovered Great Aunt N's gumball machine ... had his first piece of gum, swallowed it, asked for a second, had his second piece of gum, swallowed that, and he has been asking for a third piece of gum ever since!

AA soaked up all the lovin' from the girls ... she sure knows how to put on the charm with her baby steps, sounds, and smiles!

JP played with cousin E so well on Saturday afternoon ... their three year age difference will likely become less and less noticeable as the years pass on.
Grandpa J just so happened to need some help thinning out his tree farm on Sunday ... and I just so happened to need a tree topper for my front step. We bundled up and walked through the fields to find the perfect tree. Of course, JP picked the biggest tree as his first choice! After telling JP we needed a smaller one to haul home, he quickly ran and ran and ran and eventually found our tree. He watched daddy cut the tree down.
